There are some things in life that need no explanation and are simply pure joy to watch. This is one of them...

Quantum Levitation

Jaw droppingly awesome demonstration of what happens when you have quantum superconductors locked in a magnetic field. Think what you could do if you had an entire road lined with this stuff! Think that could work out as being very expensive though...

Creating a Hubble Galaxy in Two Minutes

Here's one for all you space freaks and image manipulators!!! This short bit of film demonstrates what exactly goes into the making of a Hubble image once the RAW data is collected from the telescope. Obviously the film is sped up and condensed into a couple of minutes but I found it very interesting indeed. The one thing it doesn't tell you though is how long the process takes in real time.

Little Big Berlin

There's a photography technique that's been around for a while now that makes normal looking scenes look like they are a model or set in a model village. The technique is known as "Tilt Shift". I have just discovered a time lapsed film that uses this technique and shows it off at it's best. Take a look at this great short film.

Pendulum Waves

I have always been fascinated by nature and physics. To be honest I know very little about either other than they are both beautiful to observe. I have recently (oh alright...this morning) come across this short clip showing a wonderful example of both nature and physics working hand in hand. It's very hypnotic and mesmerizing and I have watched it several times already in wonderment. Enjoy...

An Astronauts View

Lately I have been busying myself within the world of Google Plus. It's getting very interesting now that they've made it public and the growth rate of people joining is something to behold. There are also a few well known and famous people with G+ accounts now, you know which ones they are because they have a small tick by their nme letting you know it's a verified account. One of the verified accounts I have been following with great interest is that of NASA ASTRONAUT RON GARAN. What intrigued me was that Ron was not only posting to G+ from the ISS (International Space Station) but was also uploading photos he'd just taken so we could see the earth from his view point. If you want to have a look at Ron's photos click here : RON'S PHOTOS
