Tormé 26th September 1985

A close personal friend of mine reckons that this was and still is the loudest gig he's ever been too. In fact he blames this gig on the tinnitus he's had ever since. This was a gig by guitar legend Bernie Tormé and his band. Before going solo Bernie Tormé was the guitarist in Ian Gillan's band Gillan which was where I'd first discovered him. He managed to get some very wild and uncontrolled sounds out of his Stratocaster, it was a sound that was unique to him. He managed to control feedback in a way I'd never heard before. Anyway, the venue was the incredibly small Pavilion Theatre in Brighton and the volume they played at was way beyond the size of the venue. It was wicked!
